Queen Idia Supreme Grand Chapter, Order of Eastern Star

The Adoptive Rite, of The Order of Eastern Star, is the cultivation of charitable and fraternal practices that we may comfort, protect and aid each other in our journey through the labyrinth of human life. We journey for a more extended diffusion of the principles of morality and friendship by established and significant emblems.  The Order of the Eastern Star works to represent the best interest of the members through fraternal intercourse, mutual protection and advancement of their general welfare.  As the adoptive privileges of the Sisterhood, depends entirely upon the good standing and affiliation of the Brotherhood of whom they are introduced, the system is believed to have a strong influence to maintain the Brotherhood, with lack of err, within the bounds of morality. 

The purpose of the Order is to regulate Affiliations and advance Adoptive Rite work, while promoting charity and education. The Order of Eastern Star is founded on the Holy Scriptures and is dedicated to Charity, Truth, and Loving Kindness. 

Adah: Adah, Jephthah’s daughter from the Book of Judges, represents the youth of spring. Her color is blue, and her cardinal virtue is respect for the binding power of a vow.

Ruth: Ruth, the widow from the Book of Ruth, symbolizes abundance and growth in summer. Her color is yellow, and her cardinal virtue is piety.

Esther: Esther, the wife from the Book of Esther, is associated with the color white. Her cardinal virtue is fidelity to family and friends.

Martha: Martha, sister of Mary and Lazarus in the Gospel of John, represents the end of life, winter, and the color green. Her cardinal virtue is undeviating faith through hardship.

Electa: Electa, the mother and elect lady from the Second Epistle of John, embodies full maturity in autumn. Her color is red, and her cardinal virtue is patience.
